Introduction

The API 16C flexible choke and kill hose is designed for high-pressure flexible connections between choke and kill manifolds and other equipment. It safely transports oil and gas mixtures containing hazardous gases like hydrogen sulfide as well as water-based, oil-based, and foam kill fluids.

Structure

Inner layer: oil-resistant, seawater-resistant, high-temperature-resistant synthetic rubber based on nitrile rubber.

Middle layer: High-strength fabric cloth is used as the inner buffer layer and outer protective layer; high-strength steel wire rope is used as the pressure-bearing skeleton material.

Outer layer: Made of high-temperature resistant, wear-resistant, oil resistant, and ozone aging resistant synthetic rubber.

Protective layer: Stainless steel armor

Production Process

The production process of API 16C Choke and Kill hose includes several steps such as rubber mixing, pipe making, joint procurement and assembly.

1. Rubber Compounding

HNBR/NBR rubber mixed with additives (e.g., flame retardants) to meet API 16C's fire/chemical resistance requirements.

 

2. Tube Manufacturing

Inner rubber tube extrusion → Steel wire reinforcement winding → Outer fire-resistant cover application → Vulcanization curing.

 

3. End Fitting Procurement

Source API 6A/16C-compliant flanges or hammer unions with proper pressure ratings and material certifications.

 

4. Final Assembly

Hose ends trimmed → Fittings attached via crimping/threading → Hydrostatic/pressure testing → Fire resistance validation.
